What I have not read about HDTV

There are separate advantages to a flat screen that have nothing to do with High Definition TV. A digital display is superior to an analog display whether or not the picture is high definiion.

The other thing I have not seen is so obvious it makes no sense. The screens are a different shape but for both the size is given by the diagonal. If you were to buy a new one the same size as the old the picture would be smaller. Therefore there should be a simple table to find a larger size. Here they are in PDF format and in html.

One other consideration is the display specification to show all the available digital information. The hierarchy is 1080p > 1080i > 720p > 720i. TV is in 720i or p. Blue-Ray is in 1080i or p. But not to quibble and get waste time on the issue 1080p will show anything as good as possible without compromise.

The i means interlaced and p means progressive. 720 and 1080 refer to the number of horizontal lines. The more lines the better the resolution.

Old style TV is 480i. There is no 480p in old style TV but a digital TV can fake it for a better picture.

If the gang rape and murder of an entire family had happened in Boulder,
Colorado it would have been prime time news in the US for ten years. But it
happened in Iraq by Americans.
