The obvious question is, why? One of the POVRAY team members objects to my discussing certain subjects on news.povray.org in the newsgroup off-topic. Those subjects include some major themes on this website such as Israel and the imaginary gas chambers of WWII.

I did not bring up the subject. I had hundreds in my sig files and some of them mentioned those subjects.

There was also a discussion of the failure to produce "true art" in rendering which the usual obnoxious one will a little bit of art training starting to use the usual gibberish technical terms. I noted "Piss Christ" was considered art and that I produce a work of art in that category for the Contrasts competition. I produced this image.

To make a long story short it was rejected without explanation. Also the folks who run news.povray.org began deleting all of my posts. The reaction to that among most of the regulars on off-topic was close to outrage.

The owners said the subjects were off topic in off-topic. That did not silence people. Then the newgroup was shut down. That simply moved discussions to other newsgroups.

Off-topic was finally restored with an opening message saying posts were governed by the laws of Australia which apparently prohibit saying unpleasant things about Israel or pointing to the gaping absurdities in the holy holocaust. It is good to be a rich lobbyist. It is death to freedom of speech.

However we can simply look at that as a pretext, a sham, used by the team member to cut off discussions he does not like.
