Strange International Military Tribunal Findings

The following are provided for your reading pleasure. (IMT refers to the volumes of the International Military Tribunal record.)

"The second building [at Treblinka] consists of three chambers and a boiler-room. The steam generated in the boilers is led by means of pipes to the chambers. There are terracota floors in the chambers which become very slippery when wet ... All victims had to strip off their clothes and shoes, which were collected afterwards, whereupon all victims, women and children first, were driven into the death chambers. Those too slow or too weak to move quickly were driven on by rifle butts, by whipping and kicking...Many slipped and fell, the next victims pressed forward and stumbled over them. Small children were simply thrown inside. After being filled up to capacity the chambers were hermetically closed and steam was let in. In a few minutes all was over."
IMT XXXII - pp. 156-157.

First it is noted that today Holocaust writers ignore this clear evidence of steaming these days. Second it is noted that "heremitcally" means air tight and with steam being introduced this would be like sealing a pressure cooker, the building would be of very well designed steel or it would explode.

You will also notice that "hermetically closed" or "hermetically sealed" is a common description to all of these claims whereas the only time it is reasonable is when a gas like cyanide is being used. The term is also used when referring to wooden buildings which would be nearly impossible to seal in this manner.

As you read more of these stories note that they are usually throwing small children into the chambers. Now there are two types of small children, those being carried and those who are walking on their own. It is unclear why there is the extra effort of throwing them.

"It was in 1942 [at Belsen] that the special electrical appliances were built in for mass extermination of people. Under the pretext that the people were being led to the bath-house, the doomed were undressed and then driven to the building where the floor was electrified in a special way; there they were killed. "
IMT VII - p.576-577.
Although electrifying things is a common feature of comedy and folk wisdom, it is impossible to duplicate this description. Simply, two leads are needed to electrocute anyone. Applying one lead to a floor would accomplish nothing save perhaps blowing a fuse by shorting the power to ground.

And of course Holocaust writers have dropped electrocution from their descriptions of the means of extermination.

"PAUL WALDMANN: In this small room [at Sachsenhausen] there was a slot in the wall, approximately 50 centimeters [about 20 inches] in length. The prisoner of war stood with the back of his head against the slot and a sniper shot at him from behind the slot. In practice this arrangement did not prove satisfactory, since the sniper often missed the prisoner. After 8 days a new arrangement was made. The prisoner, as before, was placed against the wall; an iron plate was then slowly lowered onto his head. The prisoner was under the impression that he was being measured for height. The iron plate contained a ramrod which shot out suddenly and poleaxed the prisoner with a blow on the back of the head. He dropped dead. The iron plate was operated by a foot lever in a corner of the room. "
IMT VII - p. 377.
This one has be given an A for creativity but an F for bearing any realtionship to reality. Perhaps he was recounting a screenplay for a Charlie Chaplin movie.
"MORGEN: These places were faked cloakrooms, and the person was given a check at each one so that the people believed that they would get their things back ... When the last one was in, the doors were shut and the gas was let into the room. As soon as death had set in, the ventilators were started. When the air could be breathed again, the doors were opened, and the Jewish workers removed the bodies. By means of a special procedure... they were burned in the open air without the use of fuel."
IMT XX - p. 494.
Note that this one gives only a comment of gas being "let into the room" when Holocaust writers have settled on the idea that it was poured in from above. But the intersting point is that the bodies were burned with a special prodecure without the use of fuel. What this special procedure might by, modern science still does not have a clue.

This is often considered an example of a miracle of advanced Nazi science.

"Inside the showerbath [at Dachau] the gas vents. On the ceiling [were] the dummy shower heads. In the engineers' room were the intake and outlet pipes. Push buttons to control inflow and outtake of gas. A hand-valve to regulate pressure. Cyanide powder was used to generate the lethal smoke. From the gas chamber, the bodies were removed to the crematory."
IMT XXX - p.470.
This one about takes the record for the most strange/impossible items in one paragraph.
"The SS forced [women] to wash the stairs leading from the seven entrances to the four-story house, with their tongues and lips. After those stairways were washed, the same people were forced to collect garbage in the courtyard with their lips. All garbage had to be transferred to one place in the courtyard. "
IMT VII - p.491.
I am not going to comment upon this one. It is humorous enough on the face of it.

But be certain to read the complete story.
