Never a search for the remains of the
dead
Surprising as it may seem there
has never been a serious search for the remains of the dead. In
all of the literature there may have been one half-baked search
of the grounds of Treblinka but it is tarnished by reports of the impossible.
But as for the most famous of
them all, Auschwitz, never a search. There is clear testimony at
the war crimes trials that the crushed bones from the crematoria
were dumped into the Vistula River and nearby lakes. Are we to
take it that the Poles and the Russians were and are so callous
that they never searched for the remains in the last 50 years and
never put up even a marker?
Maybe they are but I do not
believe it. It rather appears to me that both countries knew the
allegations were such that such a search would be meaningless.
There is no excuse in saying
the remains are small. The amount to be
found is huge and clearly easy to find if anyone
being were interested in looking for them.
But there
is more to be found.
