| Note the words are correct in both photos so one image is not accidentally reversed. Clearly the one shown to the tourists is something built after the war. It is certainly not the one "discovered" by the US Army. | |
| The words on this door are warnings of danger and the lethality of the gas. Even for the iliterate, the skull and crossbones a clear warning. No one could be tricked into believing this is a shower. | The word over this door is showerbath. According to the story, that sign was to trick people into entering. The new one may trick tourists but the original could only trick a blind man. |
| Look carefully to the left and you will see another "gas chamber" door. In fact these are standard Degesh delousing equipment that used Zyklon-B, that is, cyanide. | Although not visible in the picture, only one gas chamber is shown to tourists indicating this one is not even in the same place. So "refurbished" or "reconstructed" can not be an excuse. |
| So what we have here is the US Army unfamiliar with common
equipment creating a legend of gas chambers. Once it becomes a tourist trap
the operators give the tourists what they want to see, even though the 1985
official brochure says there were no exterminations at Dachau.
But the operators are rather incompetent about it. They clearly did not have the sense to even copy the origin of the legend. Instead they copied the absurd stories written after the war as crude exploitation and profiteering. Of course this "gas chamber" is also crude exploitation and profiteering. It proves P.T. Barnum was correct. There is one born every minute. | |
