Neturei Karta Protests Israel's Existence
Recognizes Palestinian Claims
Jerusalem, New York, London April 27

The world's assorted anti-Zionist Jews do not remain silent during the days before and after Israeli Independence Day. Beginning this past Wednesday the Neturei Karta International is letting the world know that Jews faithful to the Torah reject the existence of the state of Israel. Among other activities were the following:

On Wednesday, the group held a street protest in Boro Park, New York. Speaker after speaker denounced the state, as protestors held aloft scores of signs describing the state existence as a violation of God's law and its actions against the Palestinians as an cruel abomination.

On Thursday, the day that Israeli independence is celebrated this year in Israel, Orthodox Jews around the world gathered in their synagogues to lament the state's existence by fasting the entire day. As part of their rituals they recited the entire Book of Psalms. Some don sack cloth as a sign of public mourning

And, last, on Sunday April 29 - 12:00 noon - a delegation from the Jerusalem branch will accompany other Orthodox Rabbis as they deliver an historic declaration to the Palestinian government in Orient House of East Jerusalem.

Rabbi Dovid Weiss, the movement's spokesman pointed out this event, which so many have anticipated for so long, is a physical example of all our efforts towards understanding and reconciliation between our peoples.

The Jewish people are in exile as a punishment for their sins. This sin may be expiated by good deeds and repentance. We may not and cannot shoot our way out of what is, in essence, a spiritual situation. At present the Holy Land by right belongs to the Palestinian people.

The delegation will present the Palestinian leadership with gifts and a lengthy letter pledging loyalty to a future Palestinian state.

Mainstream Israeli political maneuvers are predicated upon Zionism. We are stepping out of the mainstream stance in the hope that the Palestinians will realize that their quarrel is not with observant Jewry. Zionism has created the bloodshed in the Middle East. When the latter disappears, speedily in our days, without loss of life we can live together with our Islamic brethren under a Palestinian government.
